NCC - MCYS CAMP (20 - 22 NOV 2006)

The a/m camp will be held at NCC Campus from 20 to 22 Nov 2006.

Essentially, the 3 days program would cover outdoor adventure, kayaking or cutter pulling, movies, barbeque night and finally a certificate presentation.

WIL (Work Integrated Learning)

What is it about?

The Reformative Trainees (RT) Project was first launched during the Jan-Jun 2002 semester as a pilot programme under the WIL Module. The objective of the project was to give our WIL students an opportunity to use their IT knowledge and skills to serve the community, and at the same time, develop the hidden potential and leadership skills in each of them.

The programme included six training sessions at the Prisons Aftercare Supervision Section (PASS) where the student trainers were lecturers and tutors to a group of selected RT boys.

The RT boys are low-risk offenders under the supervision of the PASS, and this programme are also aimed at helping the boys adjust back to society. The student trainers play an important role as “role-models” to these boys.

This year is the 6th year we are having this project where 9 students trained 15 trainees.

What we will be having?

We will be having a Yellow Ribbon Graduation Ceremony for the RT boys to mark the end of the lessons given to them and also, to award them with certificates to show that they have graduated from this course.

When is it? 5th August 2006
Where is it? Ngee Ann Polytechnic Convention Centre
What time? 10am – 12.30pm

Who are invited to the Graduation Ceremony?

Basically, we invited everyone whom we know to the Ceremony to allow them to see what we have been doing and how they can help to reintegrate the RT boys back into the society. But since National Cadet Corps (NCC) is a supporter of the Yellow Ribbon Project, NCC is a priority in our guest list. We hope that NCC can support this event by just going for our Graduation Ceremony. We targeted to have at least 100 people from the Corps (20 x CLTs/Cadets per district) to attend the Ceremony. The a/m would be held on 9 Sep 2006. HQ NCC is required to provide Welcome Guards to honor our Guest of Honor, RADM Teo Chee Hean.

In total i need 54 Cadet Specialists and 11 CLTs to form the Welcome Guard. Selections would be held for certain appointments. Training will commence from 21 July onwards in the late afternoon.

If you are interested, kindly drop me a mail by 18 July 06. You must be a Supernumerary to qualify as a Welcome Guard.

This year's National Camp will be conducted at Pasir Laba Camp and the campers would be residing at SISPEC accommodation blocks.

Today marks the graduation of Central Phase 1 Cadet Specialists Course. The cadets had a great time during the 2 days spent at SISPEC. Greetings, this is a really busy week for me as i am co-ordinating and preparing for the Cadet Specialists Course that would be commencing next Monday. Finally, Cadets will have this chance to see, feel and absorb the atmosphere of where junior leaders are moulded to become great leaders of the future. If you are not cut to be an Officer in the SAF, let me assure you there is still a rewarding career being a Specialists and subsequently a Warrant Officer if you make the cut. Supernumeraries, if you have the chance, hop on and tag along for the experience but you have to inform your District TCO or Specialists. Best regards and Happy Holidays.

Greetings, its been some time since i blogged. Taking a good rest with 2 holidays the past week. For some, exams are over, for some its midway and for the rest it will be over soon. Doing alot of preparations for the coming Specialists Course as this year would be a first for NCC to have the course at SISPEC, Pasir Laba Camp. It promises to be an eye opener to all on what the "real" Army is about and its here where we mould young leaders. Join this exciting experience and you will never regret. See all of you soon. NCC CADET SPECIALISTS COURSE DATES

Greetings, kindly be informed that the NCC Cadet Specialists Course dates is posted on the Leaders Forum. This year the course will be exciting, an eye opener and exponential as the saying goes teach less, learn more. Those attending the 4 days course will be spending the first 2 days at Pasir Laba Camp, SISPEC and the next 2 days at Campus.

Those attending the 3 and 2 days course will be held at NCC Campus.

My aim of bringing you closer to the SAF's Warrant Officers and Specialists Corps is becoming a reality and you can observe, experience and feel the pulse of the this unique Corps when you attend the course. See you soon.

After visiting Kusu island for the first time, i wondered whether i am related to the founder of that island who is DOM JOSE DE SILVA. If only it was mine, i would name it Supernumerary Haven.

This is the cruise ship we took to Kusu island. The whole ship was ours to enjoy. It was a cool leisure ride that all the HQ NCC staff enjoyed.

Greetings, after the Affirmation Ceremony, i have been busy with other work followed by the 51st CLT Course Graduation Ceremony. Hope to post some of the pics in the next few days. That was followed by taking my Kayaking 1 star course that i was certified on 25 Apr 06. Been busy trying to co-ord the program for NCC Spec's Course and NDP admin.

On the 28 April celebrated HQ NCC 37th Aniiversary cum Family Day with a cruise to KUSU island. Played games on the ship, visited Kusu island, had lunch on the ship and finally celebrated the birthdays of those in the month of Feb, Mar and Apr. Had a good time. Its now time for HQ to re-energise during your exams period to meet the challenges in June.

NCC would be providing a marching contingent for this year's parade that would be held at the National Stadium for the last time. It would be a historic moment for all participants and Trainers. I am looking for 5 male and 3 female Trainers to assist me on shaping the contingent. The 3 criteria for Trainers are as follows:

1. Min rank of SSG and must be a Supernumerary
2. Training commences next Saturday, (15/4) onwards, every Saturday until 9 Aug. You need to be committed to the training dates.
3. Excellent conduct, bearing and turnout.

The 51st CLT Graduation Ceremony is on 21 April 2006. I am looking for
1 x CLT from the Land, Sea and Air each. Your height must be a minimum of 1.7m.

Rehearsals for the Flag Party will be on the 21 April 06, 0830 to 1700 hr. Lunch and Dinner would be provided. Attire for the ceremony is no. 1 uniform. Rehearsals would be conducted at NCC MPH.

No discrimination and please DO NOT place your beret in your side or back pocket of your pants. Please pass the word around.
